  • Archery is an event where an archer uses a bow to shoot an arrow on a target at a distance. Although it has the same origin as traditional Korean archery, countries around the world have varying techniques and shapes depending on tradition and climate. Mediterranean and Mongolian releases are such examples.

Individual events : 4(2 events each for men and women)

Rules

Qualification rounds held for men and women in each division, followed by individual and team events

Individual events consist of Olympic Rounds, team events consist of Academic Rounds

Top 64 individual competitors each from each division for men and women and top 16 teams each from men and women

Two or three archers shoot (36 arrows x 2. Total 72 arrows) on the same 122cm face at 70m

Elimination Round

Top 64 competitors from each division for men and women compete in order arranged according to ranking

Archers shoot 3 ends of 6 arrows for total 18 arrows on a 122cm face at 70m

Archers have 4 minutes to shoot 6 arrows

Top 8 competitors from each division for men and women compete in order arranged according to ranking

Archers shoot 3 ends of 6 arrows for total 18 arrows on a 122cm face at 70m

Archers take turns shooting 1 arrow within 40 seconds

16 teams from each division for men and women, with three archers in each team

Archers shoot 3 ends of 9 arrows for total 27 arrows on a 122cm face at 70m

Archers have 3 minutes to shoot each end

Team Elimination Round

Two teams shoot at same time in order determined by each team

One archer shoots 3 arrows per end for total 9 arrows

Each match uses hit/miss targets at 70m

Top four teams from elimination round compete

Both teams shoot 1 end of 9 arrows, archers take turns shooting 3 arrows

Each match uses hit/miss targets at 70m

Facilities
